Background:

At the first forum of Global Dobrich (2017) the idea was born to make a Farmer's Market in Dobrich, to meet the needs of the society to have quick and easy access to ecologically clean food of guaranteed origin. The Municipality of Dobrich was engaged to realize this idea and has searched for possible contractors in the country. Thus they contacted Hrankoop Cooperative - Sofia, an organization with extensive experience in this field, which conducts farmers 'markets and farmers' festivals in a number of cities in the country. The Municipality of Dobrich has concluded an agreement with the cooperative to take over the actual organization and implement their proven system to orfanize Farmer's Market in Dobrich with quality, natural foods produced and offered personally by producers. The Municipality of Dobrich is an administrative partner for the implementation of the project, which started in 2017. In 2020, with the partnership of the Municipality of Balchik, the Balchik Farmer's Market was established. The two initiatives are independent units with independent decisions, but at the same time using the established system and supported by the overall marketing, accounting, legal and management activities of Hrankoop Cooperative. Farmer's markets are weekly events. They host also cultural events, and the local media take care to inform the population about every change and event that takes place in the market. The farmers' market is becoming not only a place for pleasant and useful shopping, but also a kind of center for educational activities. The organizers are also working to be part of tourist routes and part of culinary tours.

Short presentation:

The main goal of the farmers' markets is to provide access to clean organic food/products - local and organic food directly from producers. All producers on the markets are small family farms, offering almost entirely their own products, and some of the producers are certified organic.

Terms of access:

individual farmers, farmers and craftsmen sell their goods directly on the spot, the equipment is provided by the organizers of the farmers' markets

the only conditions are that the producers have the right to this activity under the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria, and under the rules of Hrankoop Cooperative to produce clean food, without the use of chemical fertilizers, artificial preservatives and additives.

there is a fee, the markets are generally for regular members who pay a membership fee, and for new entrants the terms of the case are agreed.

Participants comply with the requirements for packaging and labeling of products under the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria, submit the necessary documents proving the origin of the goods, if they are bio-certified, present the necessary documentation and the goods stand separately from the others. Producers use their own transport and logistics.
