Background:
Renegade Tea Estate was founded in 2017 by a group of friends from Estonia and Lithuania. They joined the governmental program Georgian Tea as they were astonished by the number of abandoned plantations and the fact the once-great Georgian tea industry had almost completely collapsed. They saw a chance to give their part to help bring Georgian tea back to life. Since the plantations have been abandoned for the last 30 years, they took a great starting point for the production of organic tea as they knew that the fields are clean of chemicals. Due to Georgian climate there are not big diseases or insects from whom they should protect the plants and these factors make organic farming significantly easier. They started to rehabilitate the plantations in the winter of 2017/2018. The year 2021 will be their fourth season. By now, they have sold Georgian tea around the world – from New Zealand to Alaska! People around the world appreciate the good quality and chemical-free Georgian tea.
